Growing Your Vegetables In Your Backyard

Let’s be honest, Gardening is a fun hobby; it is therapeutic, good for your mental health, and teaches you discipline. There are so many things you can gain from gardening such as peace of mind, added health benefits, and a lot more. Another thing that gardening can help you get is free vegetables. Yes, you can grow fresh mint leaves, cilantros, corianders, and even lemon trees. You can go one step forward and even plant vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, and onions. Apart from saving a lot of money on every grocery trip, you get to eat healthy food straight from your backyard.

So, if you are ready, let’s talk about how to grow vegetables in your backyard.

1. Potatoes

Potatoes are the most versatile vegetable and are loved by everyone. So, why not plant some good ol’ potatoes in your backyard so that you can have an infinite supply of potatoes for French fries and other items that require potatoes. Another great thing about yhis vegetable is that it is extremely simple and straightforward to cultivate; you just need a seed potato that you can sow in the soil by March. Then, in three to four months, your potato crop will multiply and you’ll never have to buy potatoes again!

2. Tomatoes

Unlike potatoes, tomatoes aren’t as easy to grow since they require a particular set of stimuli. Also, having the right temperature is the key when it comes to growing tomatoes. So, if you live in an area where the sun is always out, you are in luck because tomatoes don’t perform well in relatively colder regions. However, there are ways thorugh which you can grow tomoates while living in a colder region. So, put those tomato seeds to good use!

3. Spinach and Chard

Loaded with nutrients, spinach and chard are extremely important for your diet. This is why you should grow them in your garden. These leafy greens need warm soil and a whole lot of sun, which is why you would want to start growing them in March. One important thing to note is that Spinach is a thirsty crop so you will have to be extra cautious when it comes to watering it as it’ll require more water compared to others.
