Paleo / Whole30 Egg Roll In A Bowl

Paleo Egg Roll in a bowl

I love Asian food- Pho, Fried Rice, anything wrapped in a wonton- basically anything that can be paired with Soy Sauce or Wasabi is my friend. However, after adopting a mostly clean and Paleo lifestyle, and especially during a Whole30 cycle, wontons, rice, and soy are a no-go.  I’ve been working on this recipe for a while and have finally perfected it! Paleo Egg Roll in a Bowl is the best part of the egg roll, anway- all the flavorful filling! The secret to this recipe is the Fish Sauce! Fish sauce adds a little saltiness and a whole lot of flavor to any dish, just be careful to not add to much! I like to fry my cabbage a little longer than others, the coconut aminos will create a nice char on the outer crust of the leaves if you let them sit undisturbed for about 2 minutes at the end of cooking.   If you’re interested in checking out the rest of the meals we’ve eaten during our Whole30 Journey, check out my Whole30 Recipe Roundup!   Products used in this recipe: Red Boat Premium Fish Sauce Coconut Secret Organic Raw Aminos /a> Kadoya Brand Sesame Oil Joyce Chen 21-9972, Classic Series 4-Piece Carbon-Steel Wok Set If you liked this post, you should check out my Facebook Page The Hungry Mommy, Instagram @the_hungry_mommy, and Pinterest The Hungry Mommy This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive a small commission if you make a purchase using this link…

Roundup: Whole30 Meal Plans and Recipes

Whole30 Meals

Before starting this cycle of Whole30, I spent HOURS scouring the internet looking for a good meal plan that I could follow along the way. I came up empty handed so, naturally, I made my own for my family and then decided to share it with you all! If you are new to Whole 30 of just looking for some recipe ideas, check out the posts below. I’m linking to Weeks 1-4 Meal Plans as well as the blog posts that contain all the recipes we have used along the way.   ** Here’s a fair warning Disclaimer for the meal plan: Sometimes the meals I put on the plan aren’t “full” meals in the eyes of the Whole30 program because they are lacking some portion that is necessary to create a balanced meal. They might be missing good fat, protein, or veggies. Mostly this happens because I don’t haven enough room to add them in my editing software and I put priority on listing the meals you might need a recipe for- so make sure that you read over the Whole30 Program Rules and are eating complete meals! **   Here are the original post that include the meal plans, prepping guides, and grocery lists: Whole30 Meals- Week 1 Whole30 Meals- Week 2 Whole30 Meals- Week 3 Whole30 Meals- Week 4 If you’re looking for a cheerleader during your Whole30 journey or just some daily recipe inspiration, check out my Facebook Page The Hungry Mommy and Instagram @the_hungry_mommy

Whole 30 Recipes and Meals- Week 4

Week 4- Meal Plan

We are officially on the downhill slide of this Whole30 Challenge! I know that a lot of you have committed to Whole60s, Whole90s, and beyond and that is FANTASTIC. A lot of people that I’ve spoken with don’t want all of the physical and mental benefits of this diet to wear off and I don’t blame them! If you still aren’t experiencing any of this Tiger Blood magic, hold on…it’s still coming. Some bodies just take longer to process out all of the junk we’ve been storing up for years. With week 4 I wanted to focus on capitalizing on leftovers. A lot of times we feel like we “need” something new to eat at every meal and that’s simply not true. Learning to love leftovers does take some time so I’m bringing back some old favorites and introducing some serious crowd pleasers! This is also a big football weekend- Go Peyton- so anything that can be made for a crowd is a win in my book! All recipes for this week can be found here: Whole30 Recipes- Sauces and Dressings Whole 30 Recipes- Breakfast Whole 30 Recipes- Lunch/Dinner Whole 30 Recipes- Sides and Snacks ** Here’s a fair warning Disclaimer for the meal plan: Sometimes the meals I put on the plan aren’t “full” meals in the eyes of the Whole30 program because they are lacking some portion that is necessary to create a balanced meal. Whole30 Week 3 Meal Plan

Whoa, can you all believe that we are already prepping for Week three of our Whole30 Challenge? I’m feeling pretty good! The icky side effects of sugar and grain withdrawal finally seem to have left me and I’m feeling alert and light and sleeping like a log! This week I have a lot of new recipes I’m excited to share with you all! I tend to load up on the new recipes the first half of the week because I’m just so excited to share them with you all! First up: Cinnamon Banana Chia Seed Pudding- this stuff is GREAT! It’s loaded with nutrients and antioxidants AND tastes amazing! I’m also introducing one of my all-time Whole30 Favorites, Taco Salad! It’s so good and filled with flavor that you will not miss all those extra add-ons!  ** Here’s a fair warning Disclaimer for the meal plan: Sometimes the meals I put on the plan aren’t “full” meals in the eyes of the Whole30 program because they are lacking some portion that is necessary to create a balanced meal. 5 Minute Whole30 Ranch Dressing

Whole 30 Ranch Dressing

Are you missing a few of your old standby meal enhancements during this Whole30 Challenge? ME TOO! This isn’t about a food “crutch”, sometimes a girl just needs some ranch dressing to get through the day. Luckily for us, homemade ranch dressing is just a few ingredients and minutes away! This is a recipe that does REALLY well with an immersion blender. What’s an immersion blender you ask? This little handheld blender that really gets into ALL the ingredients and works them together better than any other device. The great news is these are pretty affordable and SUPER versatile. I use this for making all of my dressings, deviled eggs, mixing up baking recipes when no on Whole30: the possibilities are endless! This is the Immersion Blender that I got from Amazon, and I LOVE IT! If you don’t have an immersion blender and don’t want to invest in one right now, your hand blender will work for this just make sure that you use the lowest setting possible and take a spatula to the sides of your mixing bowl often! Whole30 Meals- Week 2

Whole 30 Meal Plan - Week 2

You guys, we’re only a few days in and I’m feeling great! I will admit to a few headaches and a some irritability but I know that these will subside very quickly! I felt SO accomplished with all the prepping last Sunday and have really enjoyed not having to cook for an hour each night. With that in mind, for our Whole30 Meals Week 2,  I decided to focus on recipes that could be prepped ahead of time. If you don’t like prepping as much as I do, you can cook most of these the day you are set to eat them! I’m also adding in an emergency meal – chocolate chili – that you can cook and freeze for unexpected events that leave you hungry and without food options. This has already happened to us! If you don’t think you need it, don’t worry about cooking it!  First things first, all the recipes for this week are located here: Whole30 Meals and Recipes- Breakfast Whole 30 Meals and Recipes- Lunch/Dinner Whole30 Meals and Recipes- Sides and Snacks Without further ado, here is our Whole 30 Meal Plan- Week 2: What do you guys think? We have a few repeats from our Whole 30 Week 1 Meal Plan, and quite a few new recipes. I’m most looking forward to you all trying the Slow Cooker Kalua Pig! It’s one of our family favorites and so, so easy! These great Pancetta and Egg Muffin Cups, and Nom Nom Paleo’s Big O Bacon Burgers are absolutely…

Whole 30 Berry Salad with Blueberry Vinaigrette

whole 30 salad

Alright Whole 30 Warriors, I’ve been testing out a few whole 30 salads for our meal plan. The best ones that I’ve seen have lots of protein and veggies and NO reason to miss that cheese topping we’re all so used to. This salad is jam packed with berries and loaded down with Walnuts!  The blueberry vinaigrette is sweet and warm and will remind you of summer days even in the dead of winter!

Whole30 Recipes and Meals- Lunch/Dinner

Lunch dinner w text

Hi everyone! If you are looking for the lunch and dinner recipes for our January Whole30 Program, you’ve come to the right place! For all your AM Meal needs, you can find those in the Breakfast Post Here! I hope you all love these recipes as much as I do. Remember that you can mix and match any of these during the plan if you just don’t feel like whatever I have on the menu for that night 😉 Cinnamon Beef Stew– a great make ahead meal! We will prep this during our first Meal Prep to enjoy a few times in week one. Don’t let the name scare you- this is just a REALLY good, really flavorful twist on your class beef stew. Shepard’s Pie– Another great make ahead meal. You can prep this dish on the weekend for an easy weeknight meal or great take-to-work lunch option. Moroccan Meatballs– if you are squeamish about cooking lamb (or just can’t find it) substitute lean ground beef or ground turkey! I will be using ground turkey We will prep these by forming up the meatballs and chopping the vegetables! Asian Meatballs– one of my favorites from Nom Nom Paleo, these meatballs are GREAT! I love making A LOT of extras so I can grab them whenever I get hungry throughout the day.  Chocolate Chili– Like Cinnamon Beef Stew, this chili doesn’t actually taste like chocolate. But it is completely full of flavor and protein and a great meal to end the…

Whole30 Meals and Recipes- Breakfast

breakfast

Hi Everyone!! Our Meal Plan for the January Whole30 Circuit is up! I’m separating all the recipes into two categories: Breakfast and Lunch/Dinner. When you see a recipe on the Meal Plan, you can find the recipes in one of these posts!  Breakfast- the most important meal of the day! Make sure to eat a full breakfast each morning…it will start your day (and metabolism) off right! Sweet Potato Sausage Scramble– This is a really easy and quick option, especially since we will prep the sweet potatoes and onions during our Week 1 meal prep!  Sweet Potato, Pancetta, and Apple Hash– an egg-free option for those of us who can’t handle eggs every day! This is equal parts sweet and savory…yum. If you will miss your eggs, just add one or two in and scramble it up! Easy Paleo Fritata– This recipe calls for “emergency protein” so if you have any leftover, cooked protein you need to get rid of, add it in. If not, I like to use breakfast sausage!  Pigs in a Skillet– Another favorite from Nom Nom Paleo, this recipe utilizes some leftover Pulled Pork that we will be making.  Spinach and Sausage Muffin– These sound weird, they’re not! Give them a try! Pancetta and Egg Muffin Cups– Oh. My. Gosh. The salty crispiness of the pancetta is EVERYTHING in this dish. Add whatever veggies you have on hand. A perfect make ahead whole 30 breakfast option! Cowboy Breakfast Skillet– The hot sauce MAKES this brekfast skillet.…
