Whole30 Super Bowl Food Ideas & Recipes

Whole 30 Super Bowl Food

Hey y’all! Super Bowl 50 is upon us and I have to tell you that I am SO excited! Not  only am I a huge football fan in general, but Peyton Manning is one of my all time favorite celebrities. His career, philanthropy, and cheesy TV commercials have all been absolutely cherished by my family. The fact that this is (probably) his last season to play makes his Super Bowl appearance that much more exciting! GO PEYTON- VFL!  Are you thinking about starting Whole30 after the Super Bowl? Join my Facebook Accountability Group! I will be posting meal and recipe ideas, encouragement, and humor for anyone who needs some help!  Ok, ok…now for the reasons why you’re here. Some of us have wrapped up our Whole30 journey in time for the Big Sunday but if you’re like me, you might be a little apprehensive about reintroduction of those food groups we’ve stayed away from for the past 30 days. If you’re new here and wondering how to get started on your Whole30 journey, check out my post about it here: Whole30 Prep- What You Need to Know  Now, as we know, preparation while on Whole30 is key! We are hosting so we have more control over the menu but if you are attending a Super Bowl party, whip up a few of these to bring with you. I also recommend bringing your own veggie sticks or sweet potato chips so that you can munch on salsa and dips that might be…

Fantasy Football Confession: I’m a Sore Loser

Fantasy Football Confession

Guys, I’m going to be honest, I’m way too competitive. Not just in the sense that I want to win Monopoly or a game of volleyball. I’m constantly competing with anyone – even strangers- who have the terrible luck of running into me on a given day. Just going to the grocery store is an array of game playing for me. I make a grocery list that has everything in order of store layout. There is no going back and forth through the produce section just to make it to the milk aisle and notice I forgot the asparagus. When I see others doubling back to pick up something they forgot, I earn a point for efficiency.  I play “who will checkout faster” with people in the other lines. If I make it to the Exit while they’re still arguing with the cashier about the validity of their coupon, I win. They don’t even know we’re playing this game. I try to jump off the line when the light turns green before the driver next to me even notices it changed. I am always the last to order at a restaurant because I can’t stand the idea of someone ordering something better than me. I can’t help it. The compulsion to be “winning” follows me everywhere! Why, then, would anyone ever ask someone so annoyingly absurdly competitive to participate in the ultimate 4 month long competition that is Fantasy Football? Probably because I’m absolutely terrible at the whole gimmick and…

Paleo Friendly Game Day Recipes

Who else LOVES football? I love all types of football: flag, powderpuff, high school, college, NFL, Fantasy- all of it! As previously discussed, I also LOVE food. For me, football season has always been the slow slide of weight gain into the holiday season culminating in substantial poundage added to my frame every year by the time we roll into Super Bowl Weekend. Since having the babies and really, really trying to commit to clean eating, football season and all the goodies that come with it presents its own challenges.  To spare my friends and family from any hanger outbursts, I’m taking on the menu planning this football season. To get inspiration, I turned to everyone’s favorite recipe finder: Pinterest to find the best and most indulgent Paleo Friendly Game Day Recipes the internet has to offer A fair warning, though: just because a Pin’s caption reads “paleo” or “clean” or something of the like doesn’t necessarily mean that it is. Most of these recipes will be found on personal blogs like mine run by authors who aren’t clean eating experts or dietitians. I like to reference commonly recognized Paleo resources like thepaleodiet.com to determine if certain ingredients are actually paleo compliant.    This previous weekend I tried out a few new recipes that I’ve adapted from some of my favorite Pins. They were all a hit with even the most wary member of my sampling team. You will notice that some of my recipes have a “sprinkling” of cheese…
